Getting it Right from the Beginning

July 8, 2010admin No Comments »

The biggest issue for new Internet Marketers is sorting out the hot air from the genuine when they are first starting out. It is, or at least it was for me, extremely difficult to separate the genuine from the scammers. The  reason for this is that the newbie lacks self confidence and is looking for the easy way out (the road to easy riches). The truth, of course, is easy to see with hindsight, and that is that there is no such thing as a free lunch! What I am trying to say is that if it seems too good to be true it probably is.

The fact of the matter is that once a system has been put in place to achieve high search rankings for all of your site then a 12 year old could make sales, but the thing that is often omitted it how to build a network of interlocking sites and articles to achieve a high page ranking for just about anything you choose. In fact the process is fairly simple but time consuming and there really are no short ways around. Some activities can be automated, but the bottom line is you have to choose a niche where there are buyers that will respond to the relevant helpful information the you put in your articles and on your Sales squeeze page(s).

The whole process is rather like building a snowball and rolling it to the top of a hill, it is hard work and there is little or no apparent return for a long time. Then once you reach the top the snowball will roll away rapidly of its own accord getting ever bigger. I will stop the analogy there before it reaches the bottom of the hill again as we do not want any of our sites to crash. You should note that the rapid increase in users and customers and possibly your site itself make it imperative that you choose a good hosting company that can grow with you. I chose HostGator and you can use them by clicking here HostGator.

The next thing that you need is your own website this helps you in avoiding the restrictions that are becoming more and more common on affiliate marketers when using tools such as Squidoo and Blogger. You can get a domain from 1&1 this should include the main keyword from the niche you are entering. You are going to use this keyword in the articles and sites that will link back to your new site. This is search engine optimization, which you will need to learn all about.

In order to get started and research your niche you could buy a tool such as Market Samurai which allows you to find a niche check the marketability and competition, build your site in conjunction with WordPress Direct. This would be all fine and dandy, but like so many of the “guru’s” products out there it assumes that you have the necessary knowledge and experience to set everything up correctly and test out the system to make sure it works and also add in the requisite analytics so that you can make changes on the fly.

Fortunately for you there is now the new Wealthy Affiliate University Platinum which for a very reasonable monthly fee provides you with all the training and tools that you will need to set up your own successful Internet Marketing business at home. The package now includes web hosting, WordPress Express, a rapid site builder and article writing tool, niche research, keyword ananlysis, link cloaking and other tools as well as tutorials and access to 30,000 other internet marketers including private and direct access to the millionaire founders Kyle and Carson. Early Days

O.K. Once you have got a Squidoo account set up the first thing I suggest you do is take a look at the Lens of the Day, and search for lenses on topics that you enjoy. Use a notebook and write down your thoughts on the sites that are highly ranked. Mainly you should look for things you like and things you do not, I would suggest that you keep them in two separate columns. Later on you will compare the sites to see which features are good and which are bad.

SquidU or Squidoo University will give you quite a lot of useful hints. One thing you should be aware of is that many of the rules that govern Internet Marketing are changing quite rapidly especially since the FTC (Federal Trade Commission) has taken an interest in it. You might want to take a look at what you can find on-line in that respect. The main point though is that you will need to declare that you are affiliate marketing, and that any testimonials are typical or not as the case may be and give the typical results of all users/purchasers. Look to see how other sites are handling it.

Any sites you put up will have to include Contact details, Terms of Service, Trademark details, and a Privacy Statement. These are not as onerous as it may first appear as you can obtain copies off the web or adapt other versions to suit your site.

I have a newsletter that compares various products that newer people may be interested in, check them out here http://www.thewealthypages.com/forexenterprise.php?key=Y2lkPXNwYXJraW50ZGgmd2E9SDhSYklLa0s

Starting in Internet Marketing

January 27, 2010admin No Comments »

I have been very remiss in that I have not been adding to this blog on a regular basis. I myself only started Internet marketing about 6 months ago and have been learning as I go. One of the things that most bothered me was how to tell who is genuine and who is trying to scam you?

Unfortunately most of the time they are trying to scam you! That is not to say that everything is bad, it is not, and if you know how to use them most of the products will work to a degree. The only thing is that most vendors never tell you the how! You are left to flounder and often to lose your shirt. this is not necessary as Internet Marketing can be learned very cheaply. You do not have to have your own web site and you do not need a product of your own!

I am going to reveal just what you need to do right here over the next few weeks. Like many things it is essential to learn by doing, and eventually it is as natural as riding a bike, swimming or playing guitar.

The first thing I suggest that you do is visit Squidoo and sign up for a free account. I am going to be giving out tips and hopefully you will bear with me and we will see where it leads. More tomorrow!

Google Sandbox

December 4, 2009admin No Comments »

Play Classical Guitar has been languishing in the Google sandbox for a while or at least that is what it feels like. It suddenly disappeared from the Google index just over a month ago, then just as suddenly (12 days later) re-appeared  as high as 5 in the listing for Play Classical Guitar. This was only for about a week and again the site disappeared. I was at a loss as to why then found that there had been several crawl errors, I checked using Google’s Webmaster  Tools. I reset my site map and the errors fell from 190+ to just 19, and I also added a custom Google search including Ad-sense to the site and within 2 hours Play Classical Guitar is ranked at 23.

I am aware that Caffeine (the new Google Search engine algorithm is being rolled out but surely that would not explain such a drop and re-appearance. Was the site in the sandbox? and if so why? The weird thing is I had a sale of 6 items the day after it disappeared!

Anyway I am non the wiser, however Google had been telling me that automated queries were originating from my computer or server and the only possible software I have that could be responsible is the Seoquake add on for Firefox, so be careful if you use that. Any ban imposed for this is temporary but I suppose if it persisted you could lose traffic for ever and Google accounted for around 78%  of all my traffic.

The morale of the tale is read Google’s Terms and Conditions and ensure you stay well within them, once trapped it is almost impossible to find a logical answer for what went wrong. You certainly can not just call Google and ask! Be warned.

Web Ranking

October 15, 2009admin No Comments »

Whoops! I spoke too soon my rankings have all slipped and the Google rank was not real! I was signed in to my Google account at the time I checked and it automatically ranks your page in accordance to your most popular searches if you do that. Silly me in fact I am ranked in the top 100 and mostly rising, but this varies. Still it is not bad for a relatively young site. I will have to keep writing articles and getting quality back links!

My Current Ezine Articles

September 4, 2009admin No Comments »

These are my current Ezine Articles listed from latest to oldest:-

When I started writing these articles I did not fully understand the need for promoting keywords in all the relevant positions. It is best to have your keyword in the URL, also in your title and again at least three times in the first paragraph, but be careful not to go much above this, or you may be tagged as a spamming site!

All of your articles should include keywords either your primary or your secondary keywords. Your keywords need to reflect your target customer(s) idea of what they are looking for (i.e. They must be targetted on your niche). The idea is to attract those customers who are ready to buy so you should be using the exact terms they will be using to find the sites from which they are likely to buy. This is what is meant by relevancy and long tailed in relation to keywords. If you have any queries about this leave your details in the form below and I will get back to you as soon as I can. Thank you.
